ΣΦΆΓΙΟ

During my residency in Ars electronica I developed a project titled Όσιο, where I focused on generating and nourishing a queer hybrid creature. I forged a merge of my self, a beached tree trunk and a recently dead hare. I then placed the hybrid in a space of worship created by the objects produced through a performative research based on reshaping traditional Greek care/protection rituals.

Based on that process, during the residency at Sterna I will create a temple of release οn the island of Nisyros in order to let the hybrid I created decay and return back to soil. I will focus on engaging
with locals and researching traditional rituals of transition such as marriage, baptism and funerals, merging them to create new transrituals that serve the queer hybrid body. The temple will be set
in a remote place on the island and after completion it will be left alone to decay together with the body. The materials I will use are beeswax, wheat, rice, flour, wine, eggs, honey, local herbs and
flowers, cotton, stone, marble, wood, natural oils, gold and silver.

Finally I plan on creating a secondary nomadic installation in the shape of a transmedia diary of the research process during the residency that will connect the audience to the remote
installation on the island. A collection of images, videos, materials, smells, tastes. A welcoming space for exploration.
