UNTITLED
The central axis of my artistic practice is the element of water. The starting point of my research is my experiential relationship with the aquatic environment. This relationship emerged organically, becoming an integral part of my daily life since childhood.
Gradually, I began to observe the continuous transformations of water, its morphology, and its relationship with the environment that hosts it. Simultaneously, I observed my own gendered element, both within and outside the aquatic condition. During the creative process, the exploitation of the random element plays a decisive role for me. I turn to water, which constantly changes, assimilating the color and shape of its surroundings. Through my works, I attempt to capture the sensation of immersion, the experience of the moments when water surrounds me, and to explore the relationship between the surface and the bottom, as well as a movement that has frozen, remaining unchanged over time.
Moving on to implementation, I would like to utilize the rooms within the thermal baths of Nisyros. Collecting audiovisual material from the space and then creating new works, both painted and digital. The small individual rooms with the shared ceiling offer a unique experience where the individual and the collective coexist harmoniously. Through painting, photography, and video, I intend to investigate how the sounds and sensations of other people penetrate personal space. The recording of this experience aims to explore the relationship between coexistence and isolation, loneliness and companionship, within the watery dimension of existence.
